CAMP Information

This is a library page designed strictly for you who are involved in the CAMP program.  In fact, you also have your own personal librarians!  WHAT A DEAL!

My name is Jane Goodman, and I am one of the CAMP librarians here at UPTA, while my colleague, Ward Price, is the other CAMP librarian.  We both are excited to work with you and are here to help with your library research.   We can help you locate books or articles for your assignments, show you how to cite correctly, and provide help with researching and writing papers, along with other great research techniques.  We are here to help you, so PLEASE feel free to stop by our offices or call for an appointment.  We are both located in the Reference Department, Second Floor.  If we aren't at the Reference desk, just ask for either one of us.  Ward is located in Room 207 and I, Jane, am located in Room 211.

GET AHEAD OF YOUR FELLOW STUDENTS WITH SOME GREAT TIPS!

We call these "old librarian tricks" - no pun intended!

ASSIGNMENT CALCULATOR  -- This nifty little tool keeps you on track with your assignments so you don't wake up some morning and realize that ten-page paper is due today!  It is absolutely amazing - try it out!

NEED HELP WITH YOUR WRITING SKILLS?    Call on the OWL to help you use The Online Writing Center from Purdue University.   This site even helps you through the maze of MLA and APA style guides!   BETTER YET - Take your research paper to UTPA's own Writing Center located right here in the library on the first floor - northeast side of the lobby!

EVALUATING WEB SITES: So you think that the Internet is all you need to do your research?  BETTER THINK AGAIN!  Learn how to properly evaluate Web sites!  A lot on the internet is trash.  This Web site, courtesy of Cornell University will help you know the difference.   BETTER YET - Use the Library's numerous databases.  If you don't know how to use our databases, contact Jane or Ward, or stop by the Reference Desk.
