Find A Journal.

How do I...find a journal article?
When I know the full citation, including journal title...

1.      From the Library Catalog, click on the blue oval labeled "Journal Title".
2.      Type the name of the journal, newspaper, or magazine in the text box labeled: Title begins with.  For example, if you need the article "Johnny Ramone, 55" from Newsweek from September 27, 2004, type Newsweek in the box.
3.  Click on Search.    For our Newsweek example, we would get the following results
Newsweek  (0028-9604)

from 12/01/1939 to present in UTPA Holdings
from 01/06/1975 to present in LexisNexis Academic
from 01/01/1990 to present in Academic Search Complete
from 01/01/1990 to present in Business Source Complete
from 01/01/1990 to present in MasterFILE Premier
from 01/01/1990 to present in Military & Government Collection
from 01/01/1990 to present in Middle Search Plus
from 01/01/1990 to present in Vocational & Career Collection
from 01/01/1998 to present in Wilson OmniFile: Full Text Mega Edition
from 01/01/1998 to present in Readers' Guide Full Text Mega Edition
4.      Click on the entry that contains your date.
  • The UTPA Holdings link means that UTPA carries the journal either in print or on microfiche/ microfilm.
  • The catalog will tell you the location (floor), the format (print, microfiche, or microfilm), and the Call Number
  • All other links indicate that the periodical is available full-text through that link.  In this example, we would be able to get the article full-text, online from 11 different sources!
5. If the library does not subscribe to the periodical, you will get a screen that says "Sorry, this search returned no results."  You can request a copy through Interlibrary Loan: http://lib3.panam.edu/screens/ill.html.
